  • There's a season for everything...

i should really be grinding my books right now.  spent all day and night, yesterday, reading and reading until i finally gave up at ten o'clock.  <---that's pm! =P

anyway, the thought of autumn just popped into my head (just before we got into the same conversation about the leaves, snow girl).  we don't really use that label anymore.  i think i only hear people referencing this season as "fall." and that's fine [or is it? that reminds me of the deuteronomistic cycle, if you get what i mean.] ;)  to me, i think the word "autumn" captures the greater capacity of this season.  hmm...i think this concept is bifurcating in my mind (weird!).

for some people who live in a routine, perhaps dreariness is how you would describe this season (in vancouver)...books, documents, your cubicle, work-related courses at night, traffic jams, umbrellas, grabbing a sandwich for lunch, water splashing from cars passing by, running for a bus while sweating, meeting deadlines, staying up late to complete a project the night before, getting a talk from your supervisor about your work progress, deciding whether or not to pick up fast food instead of making it yourself in order to save time for studying, planning for meetings not related to your job, taking your gf out to a classy function, cleaning up your room, scrubbing the toilet, and organizing tomorrow's activities (did you read that in one brain-breath?)  guess you get the point. and if you add a bit of rain...a lot of rain, grey clouds, and a sky that's pretty dark for the majority of the day, you've just whipped up the reason to want to sleep-in EVERY morning.

it's kinda sad though.  how we perceive our surroundings is innately affected by how we process our internal feelings.  a common saying goes like this: "knowing that we go through life with all sorts of ups and downs, why not live it out while remaining in the joy of the Lord?" okay, it's more made up than the common saying goes.  haha. but truly, innately, our faith should be glowing.  is yours? and how do you perceive the fall of 2009?

what does man gain from all his toil? the author of Ecclesiastes asks.  we know that God has given us many things to bear, but most importantly, yet, ironically, it's what we fail to see, fail to understand, and fail to fathom: that God has already made everything beautiful in His time and He has set eternity in the hearts of all people!

i know one thing!  i need to take my own advice!  hahaha.  i'm about to hit the crummiest part of the semester.  nearly all my papers and exams are going to stack up in the next couple of weeks.  that means i'm going to literally fry my brain, burnout, and get extra anxious...not extra sleep. but that's fine (is it??).  as they say, onward christian soldiers (i think it applies to students), marching as to war (destroy those papers and exams!!), with the cross of Jesus going on before (set my path in Your righteousness and keep me Your joy). =)

note to self: take my own advice. =)

and AM I enjoying this season?  yes, i love autumn.
